Man Shot For Looking At Fella's Gal The Wrong Way
(CBS) WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. A man was shot and wounded in West Hollywood Wednesday morning after he allegedly looked at another man's girlfriend "the wrong way," according to authorities.
The shooting took place in a 7-Eleven parking lot on Santa Monica Boulevard, near Curson Avenue, around 12:30 a.m. said Lt. Keith Swensson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's West Hollywood Station.
The victim was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and is expected to recover, Swensson said.
"Apparently, he looked at somebody's girlfriend the wrong way," Swensson said.
The gunman fought with the victim over his girlfriend and then fired between four to six times as the man walked away, according to Swensson.
The victim was struck by two bullets from a .25-caliber handgun. One bullet passed through a shoulder, and the other lodged in his lower back, he said.
Friends of the victim drove the man around, looking for a hospital. They eventually flagged down an LAPD patrol car at La Brea Avenue and Sunset Boulevard, about a mile away, Swensson said. The officer in the car called paramedics.
According to Swensson, taking a wounded person to a hospital in a private vehicle was not advisable.
"Unless the suspect is right there... it's best to just call paramedics" because they can perform life-saving measures on the spot and while the victim is being moved, he said.
No suspects are reported to be in custody, Swensson said, adding there were seven witnesses to the shooting.
