this will not affect myspace in any way, and they will NOT start charging the end users. you are confused... if myspace ever charged the end user, it would only be for additional functionality (to remove all banners from your profile, for example.) - none of this will cause myspace to be "dead in the water" - myspace doesn't thrive on "illegal files."
        heeeeyyyyy now!

Well they are doing it, so let's bump this thread in a year to see if their domain is 404.

I'd prefer it if those annoying songs weren't added to profiles anyways. If I hear "Don't Phunk with my Heart" one more time ....

They should allow shorten clips though for advertising. I didn't see any news about it. Was it a copyright issue, a bandwidth issue, ?????

has nothing to do with illegal or not, myspace doesnt care about if songs are uploaded or not.

They are planning on allowing record labels to sell music through myspace, so they HAVE top go legit, otherwise, kids would be uploading songs and no one would care. They are only trying to go legit, and its only for the publicity. People will still be uploading stolen content all day long.

MySpace will also soon be allowing unsigned musicians to sell music downloads from their pages. It eventually aims to begin selling copyright-protected songs from major record labels.
its just like napster going legit so they can sell music or ads now.

considering the volume of stolen content being used on those stes, id say this is mroe than called for.

Myspace makes milliopns off those page views from stolen content.

Better that than blocking something else that might dry up webmasters' pocketbooks.

The music is not theirs to allow for any use. Can Ford just use a short Rolling Stone clip for one of their ads?

They cant even handle their pages i doubt they can stop copyright infringement

Unless everything is hand approved first ( impossible ) then there will always be a way to get around it
