The only time mine is really slowing down or getting really buggy is when I have multiple windows open with multiple tabs in each and one of them has auto-starting multimedia on the page (flash, videos, etc.). However, I ended up having to disable my CoolIris extension because the damn thing started doing weird shit like randomly popping up preview windows to links that weren't even on the damn page I was looking at... Overall, most of my old extensions were pretty painless to convert or update to work with FF2..
