I remember reading somewhere about adwords overinflating clicks, but on the other side, it could be also a problem on the side of sponsor.

if their bot is crawling your ads that may look like its clicks in your affiliate program, but not in adwords. Google is pretty good with catching click fraud, ive never heard of them "over inflating clicks"
i think you have to watch were your getting your info from.
