I used to find game shows exciting as a teenager because it was real people playing for real money. Also the smutty ad-libs on Hollywood Squares were hilarious, and I had stories to tell for years.
I also have stories from Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. They're even dirtier.
Later, I became a staffer on game shows, and they got REALLY interesting. Especially the games that involved hard questions and unexpected answers from the contestants.
Bundle up, because it gets cold in the studio to counteract the heat from the lights. Never, ever say an answer out loud, no matter how quiet you try to be. You could screw it up for a contestant.
Have a good time. You'll find that set pieces are smaller than they look (except the Wheel of Fortune wheel, which is like eight feet across) and you'll be amazed at how many people are there considering that you only see Pat and Vanna.
And keep in mind that if you're watching a TV show, you aren't gambling. It's the cheapest entertainment there is.
