been there with a Lacie 500 GB
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly! -
this drive is a seagate baracuda sounds like someone dropped a ping pong ball inside it when the heads try to reset
ohh well now I just need to remember everything that is on there so I can make the decision on getting it recovered or just hitting it with a sledge hammer!Comment

That's why, at least with my own shoot archives, each external drive has a backup external drive. Drives are cheaper than lost shoots.Donovan TrentComment

http://www.harddrive911.com/ were able to recover everything from 2 dead 1TB Lacie external for me at the best price by far, out of about 6-7 quotes. I highly recommend them if you're interested in recovery. Good luck!Last edited by BobG; 07-21-2009, 12:44 PM.Comment

1. Never trust a hard drive. They are mechanical devices so they WILL fail. It is WHEN that is the question.
2. Back up everything to at least one other place. If it's another HD then try to use another brand or at least model.
3. Repeat the above two rules until it sinks in.
