Lets see, this will be rather easy.
if the religious had their way we would still not be allowed to do stem cell research, that bit of research alone could propel us forward, and the religious have been the main thing blocking it over the past years, and that is just ONE example.
Hope does nothing to advance mankind, research does, science does, not religiou, therefore with all due respect I disagree as well. You say HOPE, they oped to kill witches by burning them, their hope is your death. The very hope you mention is the basis for what they use to exterminate the views they percieve as against god. (stem cell research, numerous advances in medicine) All would be stopped by religious.
based on stem cell research alone is enough to debunk hope vs science. Saving a relatives life because of medicine is more hope than praying. Nothing fails like a prayer. Science will actually save your life, when im in hospital bed, dont come to me with hope from a prayer, bring me a doctor i HOPE can perform the surgery!
the religious even want to stop allowing children who are raped have abortions, it never ends with the cults.
