How one man successfully anally ruptured Google's rules

This dude went against ALMOST EVERYTHING google says it hates--reciprocal backlinks, selling/buying links, you name it.

End result--google came back to kiss his ass and gave him a higher ranking.

In some cases, Google will make an exception for you.

Read JohnChow's blog about it, it reads a little different than ShoeMoney's.

              Interestin' story.

Proof that sometimes it pays to use a little reverse psychology.

I've always felt that sometimes people try too hard or place too much emphasis on being Google compliant - as opposed to spending greater effort crafting a good quality site that appeals to visitors.

Yeah, that happens, rules are broken sometimes, and not followed. Sometimes some people are allowed to break the rules. I guess selling/buying links is not really fair, but how do they check that? It's hard to do isn't it.

I have a few sites that are not very google friendly and I get better SE traffic for those sites then some of the sites that I actualy try to do well with google-wise. I always found that a bit strange. almost like the harder I try, the worse I do.

                    from the article

"building a good brand with a great site should be your number 1 priority. If that means you part ways with Google a long the way then so be it. If your site is good then it will continue to grow."

It's not unlike Larry Flint's battles for freedom of speech. Google should not censor sites anymore than the government should censor what you read or watch. Tyranny wears many guises sometimes a pin-striped suit, sometimes a flag.

so he brought everything back in compliance with google guidelines and did a reinclusion request?

not much of a story there.

Would of been a better story if he didn't bring his sites back into compliance and Google added him back in for whatever reason.. now THAT is a story. Looks like Google = 1 John Chow = 0
