Sorry Paul, but I disagree with your statement just on principle alone.
It sounds as if you have never fucked up. I certainly have. If people took me based on some of the dumb things I have done in the past, I hesitate to think how life would be going for me now. Thankfully, they evaluated me, decided I was acceptable to what they wanted and we all went forward. That's what I was suggesting.
Verification is a wise and prudent step, even with someone that has no history of problems. No one should be above reproach, and vice-versa, no one should be considered a 100% bad bet. Trust yourself, everyone else deserves to be questioned.
