fucking wireless sucks.. any mobile alternatives?

I moved this past weekend & I need to have a connection...I can't get wired at my location as it's short term... there's a couple hotspots to jack into wifi, but they're unreliable & the range is fucking horrible.. my wireless card is up to 400'.. was looking at one that claims 700'.. just wanted to ask, are there cards available for more than 700'? I prefer something up to 108mbps as the 54mbs speed bites balls,,

also,,, there's satellite tv, there's satellite radio.. anyone know where/how to subscribe to satellite internet? is there such a thing?

Probably have to get an access point setup. I haven't heard of a card with that range. The other option is one on the broadband wireless cards from Sprint or Verizon...

problem with this is it is a desktop, not a mobile device..I just checked verizon's website.. holy shit $79.99 per month with a 2 year commitment ..

Sat internet is expensive and slow as fuck, I'd advise against it unless that is your only option. Starband is one of the better companies out there but price to performance... ugh.

I just checked out starbands website... lol 1024kbps $129.99 per month, lol .. (how many mbps is 1024kbps??).. this looks slow..

hmm.. I'm trying to jack the fusionconnex hotspot, which is a service I can subscribe to, but they're like 2 or 3 blocks down the street.. the signal is very low, with a netgear 400' range usb adapter, so if I upgrade to this card, you think the signal strength will be much better?

I'd look around in your area for a wireless / WISP consultant.

They'll be able to set things up correctly for you.

I'm not trying to setup a network, I just want to be able to get reliable access/service.. Where I'm at, I am unable to install anything wired because it is seasonal property. Worse case scenario, I'll have to rent office space & just wire up there & have to spend all day & night at the office instead of working at home,, the connection I'm on now is somebody's linksys router, but has a low signal strength & is intermittent.. goes on & off.. can't get on sometimes, & seems whenever I ftp, I get booted off the network, lol.. there's a paid for hotspot 2 or 3 blocks down the road I can get into, If my card would reach the damn thing.... I'm ready to duct-tape my usb wireless adapter to a long cable & hang it out the window & see if that works, lol...Actually, my pc is set up next to the window..

I have T-mobile for these times. $32.00 per month plus cost of wireless card, if you need it.

It's slow(like dial up) but was very reliable except in areas where there was no coverage.
If you're in LA then forget it. t-mobile sucks there.

Next option is a unlimited minutes cellphone service and an dial ISP.
Seen it done with the computer hooked into the cellphone.
My last choice though.

Done.

Maybe a directional wireless antenna would help. I have read you can even make one using a pringles can. Here's a link to some directional antennas. I've never used one, so I can't recommend one. Maybe you can get some ideas from the link.
