Actually it's not. You're body should get alot of water daily, you need to replenish what you loose. The amount can be low or high, anywhere from one liter to tweleve glasses. There is a method to find out what your body needs daily, through your weight, fat %, age, daily activities, food intake, and sex, etc etc etc. However, it's easier to just say 8 as a "general rule of thumb". The real number for a person will indeed depend on alot of different circumstances. However, for the sake of not getting in a massive list of medical & living questions about the said thread starter. I simply said the old "drink 8 glasses of water a day" line.
