    Donation Box on the IBILL CC pages..

    I've just been informed IBILL will no longer remove the donation box from the IBILL CC pages.
    I spoke on the phone this afternoon with,
    Sharon
    Manager/Client Services
    iBill
    [email protected]
    and she advised me that IBILL will no longer be removing the donation box.

      You're shocked by the fact that a company that's had tons of problems over the last few months, and instead of fixing those problems, put a donation box on your signup page helping to reduce sales has done something stupid?

          Fatpad, I'm shocked because just a few days ago, it was like if you want the donation box removed call IBILL and ask them to remove it.. (pretty simple right?)

          This afternoon I jump on the phone to IBILL and to my surprise I actually get to speak to her.. I told her I know of other adult paysite that have the box already removed?? and she said she would look into that, and she goes on to say that I can not have the box removed and she wanted to know why I want to remove it. I explained alittle why and one of the last things I said to her was, so is this very firm decision by IBILL to leave the box up, and it's either like it or leave it? and she said yes!

          But that she would take my comments and feedback to her bosses... WFT

              Why anyone uses iBill is beyond me.

              I don't know anything about paysites so don't be surprised if this is a dumb question.

              Can't people just drop iBill altogether and use a different processor for new signups? I know there are rebills that need to be handled, but why not just ditch iBill as a processor and use one or two (or three or whatever) of the others, and let iBill deal with the rebills they have now only?

                  I know this statement will be unpopular but I have detected no difference in signups with the donation box.

                  I think everyone smells trouble with the feds in the future, and I have heard speculation as to why iBill may be doing this, I dont know which to believe. Both reasons sound plausible.

                  As long as signups go through, I dont care if they make donations to NAMBLA.

                      Duh... one thing to say .. CCBILL ... Ibill has always sucked in my book, ccbill has never done anything to make me question their integrity, and they are always there for you, willing to do anything to make your account better.

                          You can absloutely switch processors with no loss of income. Our system will write to the same password file so all previous members will stay with Ibill and the new ones will process with our system. We also waive the setup fee for any merchants switching to us from another processor.

                          What is on YOUR signup pages shoud be your business, not anyone elses.

                              Becareful with chargebacks from switching since you no longer have no sales to balance them out.

                              I dont know if Ibill will move your database to ccbill or another processor.

                              Also, if tons switch to ccbill because of this, expect ccbill to have issues in the near future.

                                          and IBILL first allowing us to remove it was ok.. but now they firmly stand on the fact that they will not remove it. Leaves me no choice but to look else where for CC processing.

                                                      I don't work for IBill and have no knowledge of what they base their decisions on.

                                                      However, CCBill is not in the habit of a. talking poorly about our competition, or b. importing cc databases from other companies that are currently operational.

                                                      It's been my understanding that Visa/MC frown heavily on this, if it is not outright non-compliance. Of course the Visa/MC regs are never entirely clear and getting them are like pulling teeth.

                                                      It's also been our policy to work towards sustained and constant growth, which is good management in any business, and we don't expect any troubles down the road regardless of what anyone else is doing. We manage our business based on what we are doing, not what others are doing.

                                                      To the best of my knowledge, IBill has sent out checks on time and in full, which would be the best indicator of their financial solidity.


                                                      Aside from all this, there are some very strict policies POTENTIALLY coming down from Visa and Mastercard. How much of what's been mentioned and how soon they intend to implement it is still up in the air, but one of the major factors involves making site owners accountable for their actions, and stopping those site owners which have burned the banks in the past from obtaining processing in the future.

                                                      I believe Clay from Epoch mentioned this in another thread as well.

                                                      My suggestion to everyone always has been and will continue to be simple. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Having several sources of processing (which may or may not include third party or your own merchant account), utilizing alternative pay methods to cc's, such as checks or dialers, and keeping an ear to the ground will make your business more successful no matter how the winds of change blow.

                                                          same here. i kinda expected to see at least a small reduction in sales, but so far, no change. have any paysite owners seen drops in signups since the donation box was added (assuming it's the only variable that appears to have changed for you)?

                                                              You said it with a mouth full. The best advice is to never have your eggs in one basket . You can always leave your rebills where they are and move to a secondary processors for new sales. That is the best message you could send.

                                                              I dont think it will cause any site to dramaticaly loose sign ups or an inordinate amount of chargebacks, these chargebacks shouldnt go against a site owner.

                                                              You mentioned growth. You know very well that Visa/MC chargeback model does not allow for a slowdown or loss in business. You must continue to grow your transaction count or face stiff penalties. Although our companies are growing, Ibills may not be growing as quickly.

                                                              Thru this new inclusion of a donation box in small print, with a check in the box already, is a method to seriuosly increase transaction count quickly. Very few people will chargeback this one dollar donation to Webplgd so its a quick way to increase transaction count, without advertising or going after new sales.

                                                                                  I spoke to Troy today and voiced the opinion that I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea to have the donation box, but I definitely think they should default to 'No'. After all, they don't allow us to default 'Yes' to cross-sell.

                                                                                  It's being taken up with management.. [which means it will probably get resolved in a couple of weeks..] :-/

                                                                                              Good discussion and great points by you both. I also agree not to put it all in one basket. Diversification is key to longevity and success. Referring to the importation of data, we did it with many merchant when DMR, Web Cash, OBS, and Digiblaze went under. We stayed in compliance by receiving permission from the cardholders and notifying them of the descriptor name change as well. Granted, merchants are much better off leaving the rebillings where they are and starting fresh having the new processor do the new signups and rebilling. However, this is not always possible as it was not in the case listed above. I;m sure Ibill is not going anywhere so it should not be an issue but that is up to the discretion of the webmaster/merchant.

                                                                                                      1) Our terms are right on our site. Check out the posted merchant agreement. It is also stated in our admin when you login user TOS.
                                                                                                      You can start on the signup page and click "Signup".

                                                                                                      2) Everyone knows that high risk merchants are at risk for potential chargebacks of they do not play by the rules or use a crappy gateway that allows too much fraud. If they make their settings too loose, they get high fraud, too tight and they lose sales as well. We give them the choice and our recommedations as well. We spend mucho time educating our merchants as it is in our best intertest to keep them around. Our attrition rate is less than 5% per year.

                                                                                                      3) If you run your biz properly, you should not eever have a merchant account problem. It is the morons that decieve customers and do not promise what they offer, and do not provide proper customer service, and spam that lose their merchant accounts typically.

                                                                                                      4) I am the President, not the CEO. My Sales team is doing exactly that... Sales. I am the one thats likes to participate on the boards.

                                                                                                      5) My sales reps are not paid commision.

                                                                                                      6) Ask our merchants what they think of us. You will see praises almost always.

                                                                                                      (7) You stated in an other rude post that if we could get you a merchant account for under a grand, you would take 2.... Well step up as you stated you would or step out. We can set you up no problem, unless you have been terminated or bankrupt or live in Malaysia.

                                                                                                      We do not need people like you with only negative things to say. Participate in the conversation in a positive manner or you are not welcome on any board or thread... guaranteed.

                                                                                                      Merchants deserve to know all of the options, not just the ones that you think are good.

                                                                                                                      I would rather have billers stick around than have nothing available due to chargeback problems.
