Why the GOP will lose in 2012.

More than seven in 10 Republicans said they would be likely to vote for Palin for the presidency. "

Way too soon to be making any presidential election predictions... A lot will happen in the next few years.

Yep, and the number of Americans who would not vote for her is strong enough to prevent her from ever getting into the white house.

Honestly she is the GOP version of Hillary. Very polarizing character but if either of them were the final two the other side would mobilize to make sure they did not reach the White House.

If they both run in 2016 Hillary would definitely beat her.

Not really, Hillary actually has pretty strong credentials -- a Yale JD, 8 years in the senate, considerable national scrutiny. Also, Hillary is actually pretty popular if you look at her gallup ratings.

Palin is much more like a Republican Jesse Jackson. Always around to give their opinion, great speaker, but really only interested in the fame and money.

The GOP is dead. They are gripping onto their dogma to tight. They need to purge themselves of the bible thumpers and get back to the basics of small government. :2cents:

Hillary won't be running against BO in 2012, so that's a non-issue. He would have to totally fuck it up for that to happen. If that's the case, just hand the reins to whomever gets nominated from the GOP.

He is going to botch it all and end up being a horrible president. Mark my words.

However, he is such a smooth talker and the American people are just dumb enough to fall for shit jive talk one more time and vote him right back in, just like they did with Bush.

Or, he will blow it so badly this term that people can't WAIT to get him out of the office.

I'm calling for Jeb Bush, 2012 to clean it up.

dont rule out palin. the voters will vote for stupid people (Bush) & will forget their prior mis-steps (bush re-election)

the repubs are so weak in the field Palin can easily win the nomination. She has all the creds to energize the base. anti-intellectualism, obsessions with god & guns.

If the government spends 6 trillion dollars & the recession turns into a depression, yes Palin can win. that is very possible since Obama shows absolutely no indication of fiscal restraint. Every single thing he proposes is either more government, more spending, or both. shit they are even getting efficiencies out of health care just to spend more on health care.

last point is that all elections are referendums on the incumbant. This is how Bush, Reagan, & Nixon got in the white house in the 1st place. Palin fits right in with this crowd.

Every republican I know... Hates her without question. Many wouldn't vote, because of her.

Most right wing ultra conservative, seem to like her. And that was a love/hate relationship.

She is "the reason" the Republicans lost. She will not make it past round 1 of the next elections.

Repubs only have a chance if Obama has a Katrina moment. otherwise he talks too smooth to lose to any republican out there. Don't rule out the possibility of that happening. A stock market crash because the economy is stuck in quicksand can be that katrina moment. if that happens the words government bailout will ring empty & voters for obama could stay home.

She is scary, like wing-nut psycho girlfriend scary. The good news is that only the far-fanatical right would vote for someone whose political resume is a failed bid for VP followed by abandoning her post during one of the worst economies ever. Conservative and traditional repubs will demand more experience in a candidate...

I have said all along and still maintain that the 2012 presidential election is all up to Obama. If things are going well and he has high approval ratings he will get re-elected and it won't matter who the GOP run. It is very difficult to beat an incumbent president, it is nearly impossible if that president is doing well and has a high approval rating. If he is doing well and has high approval ratings I won't be shocked to see a lot of the heaver hitters choose not to run. They will let some lesser candidate throw himself on the sword.

That said if things aren't going well he could be vulnerable. If the economy is still in the shitter still they could go after him on that, but there is still a large perception that it was Bush and the republicans that caused the economy to collapse so they will have to overcome that. If he passes a health care bill that is terrible and is going to spiral us into hopeless debt he could be vulnerable.

If Obama is vulnerable it will be a close election, but look at 2004. We were stuck in a war in Iraq and it looked like Bush had no plan of how to get us out. The economy was on the decline and Bush's approval ratings were pretty low and he still won re-election. You might say it was because Kerry was a weak opponent and that would be part of it, but the incumbent always has a huge advantage because you know what you are getting with him.

Still, I don't see Palin as being able to win the republican nomination, much less the presidency. I think she is too far to the right. I see her as someone like Huckabee. She will do well in the bible belt states, but eventually you have to leave those states and move on to the more progressive states and she will struggle there. She already has the stench of a loser from the McCain campaign and she has a terrible image among independents both of those things will be huge hurdles to overcome.

I actually think she is hoping that the current Alaska senator Lisa Murkowski runs for governor then Palin will run for that senate seat. If she can win that will put her in Washington with all the power brokers and in closer proximity to a lot of states that she can start visiting regularly. It will give her more experience and in 6 years when her terms is coming an end she runs for president in 2016.

Agreed, Jeb is a good guy and should of been up for the job WAY before George cut in line... best thing (R) could ever do is dump Palin and never speak of her again it's fucking embarrassing, and makes me angry.

I've never been a fan of Democrats and I think if the government keeps putting restrictions and caps on private industry there is going to be a huge swing back against them

Palin will run in 2012 or 2016 but at best she will be a marginal candidate and will never win a nomination.

The Republicans will pick up seats in Congress in 2010 but I think unless disaster has struck in 3 years, Obama will probably get back in.

I think the Republicans best chance in 2012 or Mitt Romney or Tim Pawlenty. Not another right wing nut job like Palin.

I brought this up back during the elections... It was funny to watch some of the news stations, especially Faux News, already talking about the 2012 elections when this one hadn't even concluded. It is still being talked about continually like they just want to forget or hurry up and get past or over the fact a black man made it into the White House.

                                                  It is sad and pathetic.

I didn't vote for him but I wasn't blind to the fact it drew the racists out of the woodwork and shows how little we have advanced since the 50's and 60's.

I 100% agree. Abraham Lincoln brought this very issue up in 1858, over 150 years ago, in his famous "House Divided Speech" when he pulled a quote from the New Testament Bible which stated, "...Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand." The Bible was written 1,000's of years ago and THEY KNEW IT THEN.

It is repeated over and over again. It is seen throughout history and we (humans) keep doing it over and over with the same results. You know what that is, right?

Albert Einstein put is best when he said, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

This was evident in one of the debates that Fox hosted, where the moderator had the brass gonads to ask Dr. Paul if he had any credibility.
