Questions for the serious bloggers out there

    Hi

When exchanging links etc. for your blogs, do you put all your link exchanges on the index of the blog as part of the blogroll? I see lots of people saying swap links etc with people, but when you do this and exchange links with all the blog directories/link lists its a pretty long list of sites. And also, the term hardlink is often used. Is a hard link just a permenent link?
When you submit your blog to blog listing sites and they swap links, are these called hard links as well? I know it sounds like a dumbass question, but never really understand the difference between all the different links. With blogs and what I've been doing, I've just swapped links with a few other blogs and then subbed it to some blog list type sites, is this a good thing to do, and how many reciprical links on the index is too many?
    thanks )

You can get it ploughing a paddock, you can get it makin some porn sites, matter of fact I've got it now.

For a hard earned thrist, you need a big cold beer.

When I exchange links with other blogs I always put them in the Friends section on the index page. I put blog directories links also on index page but in other section.

my personal link number is 20. more than 20 links is clutter, so anytime i design a site, i setup it up for a list of 20 with a good refferal script so the sites giving the best hits and in turn given the best list placement.

The problem with a big big list of blog directories will likely only be the case on your first blog. When you build your second blog you will know which blog directories bring your traffic or other advantages. So when submitting your second blog you only submit to the "good" blog directories.

Blog Submitter, submit to 15 blog dirs with 1 form.

So 20 links, and that includes friendslinks/blogroll/blog directories yeh?

Is 20 enough to generate some ok traffic providing regular posts etc.?

          thanks again

Google says in it's webmaster guidelines: "Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100)."
