Not only will it be non effective, the build cost will be absurd, repair costs will be insane, and somehow I just know it will end up having to be taken down as well which will cost more.

Not to mention it will take fucking forever. Hell when we get a small road project around here of a mile or so it takes 2 years minimum to do.

We shall have to watch, wait, and see. When shit pops up like environmental impact studies and reports, accidentally finding ancient burial grounds or pottery, and so forth.

well - honestly i usually got better things to do. i just thought it's funny that one president wants to tear down a wall that was built for preventing people leaving the land because of the better economy on the other site - and 17 years later another president builds a wall for exactly the same reason.

i really think that Bush is an idiot that gets remote controlled by people behind the curtain, but that's not my problem. otherwise i really think that the US are a great country and i love to go there a couple of times each year

Sure.. there is that - and prob is linked to the admin's popularity (or lack of it) as well.

But remember, this is a rubber stamp govt, where one party currently controls both houses. (Not saying it would not have happened either way - who knows, it is enough of an "issue" chances are something would have happened.)

You forgot the part about how East Germany had subsidized stores funded by the Soviets, and West Germans were driving across the border to get these low cost goods.

Just imagine if the Mexican government was paying for discounted goods for Mexicans, and Americans were coming across the border to grab it all up... at the cost of the Mexican government.

There were a lot of good reasons to build the Berlin Wall at the time. There are many more reasons to build a US / Mexico wall. When the day comes that Mexico shows that they have cleaned up their act, maybe that wall can come down.
