Music People - How does this mix sound?

Thanks for listening. I love those Cambridge speakers... I had a set until recently.

theyre good - just listened on my livingroom JBL set, kinda the same, it sounds like a live band with some bass added. Im sure you can see the freq spectrum, Id add some mid and high bass, but like I said other then that it sounds pretty amazing

Ya' know for all my geekines, I never thought about popping it into a spectrum analyzer! Thanks for the thought man! I can A/B against mixes from commercial stuff that I like then too. You just lit a giant light bulb over my head.

Lacking in the mids. Old trick I used to do was burn the song to a cd, and listen to it in the car. Afterall thats where most people listen to music.

I always burn stuff onto my Ipod and check it out in the car, yeah. Problem is that my sound system in the car is ridiculous so it's not a good yardstick. =]

True but as long as you are comparing it to a commercial recording should be good.

I can do that right on the studio monitors though using ITunes up there. What I'm finding is that great speakers fool me into thinking a mix is good then it sounds horrible on PC speakers or on cheap systems. SInce I post a lot of music online I want it to sound good across pc platforms mostly. Using the spectrograph as suggested above ought to solve the problem of guessing about frequency coloring from speakers though. Hadn't thought of that but it's a great solution.

A common problem in home recording is a muddy bottom end. Just remember to never add frequencies when EQing, always remove... especially from the bottom end. And just mix with a pair of Yamaha NS-10's and a decent amp. If it sounds good on those it will sound good on everything. Good Luck.
