    Even Commercial Wordpress Themes are GPL license

    Commercial WordPress Themes’s PHP Code is GPL 2 Too
    http://foolswisdom.com/commercial-wo...s-themes-gpl2/

    The backlash from this announcement should be interesting among some theme developers.

    Gee, so that means if bothered, they may have to reveal

    Code:
    <?php  wp_list_cats(); ?>
    You're either entirely misunderstanding what's considered GPL, or entirely misunderstanding that entry.

      It looks like they're claiming the PHP and even HTML/CSS in themes are GPL to me, even in commercial themes. How else do you interpret it?

        I guess this would apply to premium plugins too.

                That is one organization's biased opinion. It hasn't been tested in court and bears no weight at all.

                  Shift your biz from selling themes to providing support. Problem solved.

                    There might be some examples here, but I haven't researched it further yet.

                      You can still make money

                      This means that, except for ethics, there's no stopping you from buying a a wp "premium" theme or plugin, and then resell or give it away.

                          No way that will work in court, if done correctly the only code that a theme would contain is wp_xyz() function call... which is really just a label...

                            A few of the bigger theme sellers have embraced this. Think of the payment for the premium theme as support.

                              it is wrong to charge money for add-ons to OS software anyways
