I would say none. All of you hard core ?patriots? are nothing but a bunch of wannabes that sit and abuse their keyboards on daily basis. For a legitimate war - yes. For any other reason - no.

The last legitimate war was in the 40's - chances of another in my life is remote. If it's another bullshit war - I'd prefer to put a bullet in the head of the leader for failing to do his job and reach a resolution without putting others at risk.

I spent 7 years in the Army from 90 - 97

I served in 2 combat zones- Somalia, and Haiti

In Somalia, i was part of a rescue force that went in to get surviviors from two blackhawk helicopters that got shot down. In Haiti, i was part of the biggest helicopter assualt raid to take place since Vietnam, flying from the deck of the USS Roosevelt to take the Port Au Prince international airport. I've driven truckloads of food up dangerous mountains to feed an orphanage on thanksgiving day in Haiti, spent a year in South Korea, spent some time in Panama as part of a deterrent force when the Panamanians were having thier 1st democratic elections. Helped deliver food and medical supplies to the people of south florida after hurricane Andrew destroyed it.

In 7 years I earned 14 medals, the highest being the Army Commendation Medal with "V" device for valor in combat. I've been shot at and I've returned fire many times. I've rappeled out of helicopters, jumped out of planes, climbed mountains, lived in jungles and froze my fuckin ass off in arctic conditions... and asked for more.

There are very few circumstances in which I would fight for any country. Although I have a great deal of respect for history, I believe that national boundaries are the worst excuse to send ordinary people out to kill other ordinary people.

Look at Europe: a thousand years of war for what? Today the people live alongside each other, travelling through and living in each other's countries with little formality. How many people died through the centuries for nothing better than an attempt by someone to satisfy their fleeting ambitions?

These days the window-dressing is different. We will not be summarily executed for refusing to serve and leaders who are supposedly our representatives will attempt - albeit less than honestly on occasion - to explain why we must go and shoot someone who lives in a place we maybe couldn't even find on a map. But nothing has changed in that most wars are about greed or ideology and the people sent to fight them rarely have a stake in either.

I would go defend my country if i felt that there was a significant enough of a reason to go do so. I was ready to signup right before the war broke out, but i'm not going to put my life on the line for someone to fatten their pockets so i decided against it. Wasn't hard to figure out this was going to be a vietnam like war.

even four of my cousins who are all marines said they were glad they were done with their tours and didn't have to put anytime on the battlefield in during this war. when it comes out of the soldiers mouth's thats when you know theirs something wrong.

I did my 5 years in the army. Been out for a little over 2 months. I wasn't no ranger or special forces or nothin', but I went to Iraq and Afghanistan. I hated those 5 years. I'm far from a patriot. I'm actually trying to move to Canada now. I don't even know why I really joined. I guess I was bored one day and never took this good for nothing war serious.

I served four years in the Marine Corps and have the scars and medals to prove it. I would've fought anywhere, any time my country asked me to. But I never got the call for a war zone.

I don't live in the US and won't again until some major changes are made. But if any foreign nation were to invade the US, I'd be home the next day. I'd get armed, supplied and be out on the front lines, fighting alongside my countrymen.

Just because you don't like the way your team is playing doesn't mean you don't strap on a helmet when the big game comes around and they need you. I'm not proud of my country right now, but I'm still a proud American.
