A seasoned graphics artist doesn't charge for a logo by how long it takes him/her to make it, we charge for the usage of it, what it will be displayed on, how many people will see it, etc...

but, good luck with your project.

$50 for any logo is still minor leagues ....

A logo is identity branding for a company/website/etc
A company stands to make alot of money with their logo, so this is factored into it's worth, and is why no company should chintz on their logo either.

Like Aico says, how long it may (or may not) take to make it is not the only factor that goes into the pricing or value of the logo ...

If I were to create a logo, I would expect to be paid for the entire creative process - thinking about how it will look/envisioning the layout, the draft, and the polished end product.

I completely understand your point as well as aico's

however, by the same token the budget of the purchaser should also be taken into consideration

also the likelyhood that the artist will be contracted out for future work

also the rules of supply and demand............as I type this some kid just downloaded photoshop and will be pretty much a guru by this timne next year

another kid is on his way to photoshop class as I speak

the logo I requested is beyond simple and before I pay more for something I know is only worth around 20 bucks of anyones time I will outsource it to india on rentacoder.com or something I am not looking for someone with a marketing degree in logo creation

the problem with GFY is that a lot of guys around here are caught up in the hype and really believe that they should command top dollar for every little job

the same people believe that everyone here is rich

all bullshit

there is a hungry designer who could use those 20 bucks for a few minutes of his time

and that is the person this thread is directed toward
