Recent History:
Chapter One: CLinton
-Clinton lucked into a huge economic boom due to a change in technology.
-Everyone got rich
-Tax revenues went through the roof
-deficit was substantially reduced
-everyone needed someplace to put their cash
-real estate boomed
-rules were changed so that anyone could get a loan no matter what
-crazy ass derivative products were introduced
-no real thought was given to terrorists or safe borders or the 'homeland'
Chapter Two: BUSH
-Bush "lucked" into 9/11 - he wasn't at fault for the shitty security conditions, but he had to respond and find a way to correct it.
-In reaction to those events, in a fog of war, he crushed our civil rights and many freedoms to increase our domestic security
-in reaction to those events, we attacked a bunch of countries and entered into a decade + of aggressive pre-emptive wars
-at home, the real estate market and lending practices and derivative securities sky rocketed into ridiculousness
-Finally the bubble burst and we all got shit on
Chapter Three: OBAMA
-Obama lucked into a financial shit storm. - he wasn't at fault for the shitty economic conditions, but he had to respond and find a way to correct it to try to prevent a national and global depression.
-in a fog of financial mayhem, he and congress pushed through unprecedented government spending in record time.
-Obama makes all kinds of promises about magically healing this serious financial problem while continuing to fight those same wars.
