If the owner is located in Germany they are in for both, distribution of porn without a backdoor protection (violation of the German federal criminal code) and copyright infringement (personal liability).

First of all i didn't see anyone else using torrent sites for advertise complaining about it and crying loud, but that's exactly what Mr. Aga did. He sells US$ 4.000 Spots for rapidshare.de but complains that AFF adds are shown on such sites, that is what makes this thread interesting, at least for me. Additinally he is threating to sue the one who brought it up that he is just one more of these torrent supporters and nothing else at this moment.
If he was THAT MUCH against such business behaviour, so much against torrent sites, so why are the Adds still there for sell and brokering? I would have awaited at least some kind of "Excuse me, i wasn't aware of this, be sure it's gone in less than 24 hours". If this would be happen, which i guess everybody awaited who readed the full thread it's ok, mistakes happen, just human. But after it doesn't happen for nearly a full week now, so what else can be the conclusion other than he is exactly the same type of group people you descibed with "who tell you they don't care and they're here to make money.. not caring about anything else.", not?
It's one thing just to begin such thread, make accuses and than just disapear because you are in the same boat with the other torrent supporters. Hey, i would nothing like to see more than nobody supporting all that scumbags running or promoting torrents, zango, vidoscash and all that shit that hurts us all, but seems there are not many professional webmasters around thinking for the long run.
And yes, i guess i will bump this thread many many many times more, that's my right on a forum. I hope Brujah is right. I guess whether you believe Aga's sudden departure from this thread indicates something positive or negative (since it could be seen either way) depends on whether you had made assumptions about him from the off.
I must admit that this thread has been niggling me. Not because in its own right it isn't valid: simply because of the wider context. And it's not the only one. Within many of the threads about scumware, we have gone rambling off at various tangents to the point where inevitably interest faded and business carries on for the thieves just as before.
Somewhere in the drama, most people seem to lose sight of the reality that some sponsors and some fellow affiliates are helping themselves to money from everyone else's wallets. How many more years will it be before more people grow up enough that this kind of issue finally moves past being an excuse to sig whore or build post counts (or simply ignore), to become something we automatically act upon?
In the meantime, the only way those who are serious now have any hope of achieving anything is if they focus on one issue or even one sponsor at a time, and keep trying to drive the message home. And however much it goes against the grain for individual "entrepreneurs" to work in concert, doing so is the only way they can possibly achieve anything more than empty gestures. This year alone I have dropped sponsors for supporting content theft, providing discounts to review sites and now for being involved with scumware. That makes me feel better, but I'm not naive enough to believe it has made the slightest difference to the sponsors themselves.
Someone needs to start bringing direction to all of this if these dramas are ever going to become something more effective.Comment

I reported rapidshare to adsense several times back when they had it, I suppose I wasn't the only one because it eventually stopped using them, I tried reporting them to paypal due to the porn but I don't want to do it within my account and the only paypal addy I have is the phishing report box. If anyone knows a good email to report porn use in paypal that would be a good idea too.
I'm sorry Aga but rapidshare allows anyone to upload files, it's pretty logical that it's mainly used to pirate porn. They don't even have a takedown form for copyright holders.
Reporting to the german authorities probably is a good idea too, especially with some really obscene files that get uploaded there sometimesComment

I agree on the AFF thing, and that's the reason i will remove each banner i have from each of my sites. Not that it doesn't matter at all but i don't want to be affilated with such sponsors too, not to talking about their affilation with zango. I dont own Etology nor Netpond ads, its a white label of the etology product.
