Nothing agains the OP, but most affiliate reps lack the knowledge and knowhow to be a webmaster, and generally only carry out basic tasks like dealing with affiliate requests, resetting a million passwords, and basically doing their board posts etc. Its not a hard job being a rep, and you need very few skills, but I can guarantee you that 95% of them could never step into the webmastering world.
