                                                              At least one, and possibly more, of the guys involved has given statements to US military investigators detailing the role each played that day - and why they chose to embark on a killing spree. Also recovered was DNA evidence from the remains of the kid who was raped (they tried to burn her body). There are also a number of other witnesses - the soldiers did not seem to care who saw them, - presumably thinking nobody would talk.

                                                              It's up to a courts now, but appears it's not a matter of who did what any longer - (tho one has since left the forces and standing trial in the US where he has pled not guilty) - but more an issue of "troops left demoralised and emotionally drained" which may presumbly be the line followed by defense counsel.

                                                              At times we are all "demoralised and emotionally drained" - tho most of us don't embark on a killing and raping of kids adventure.
