The only way for this to hurt us if for more people to get infected. If people start buying traffic from companies like zango all that does is drive up the cost for the traffic and makes their campaigns less profitable. Either way the traffic is stolen from me whether they paid .04 for it or .40 for it.
I am sure some people stopped promoting installs like zangocash, I know there were people who using it that had no idea they were shooting themselves in the foot. You would have to be a complete moron to promote an install like that and also be an affiliate to other adult sites or mainstream for that matter, now that you know how it works.
I am sure some surfers read these articles and are now educated. I would hope the majority of the adult industry is now educated and sponsors now have to be accountable if they support it.

Once you have a domain/page setup with extensive info on how Zango/adware effects affiliates, what sponsors accept adware traffic, which sponsors actually bid on adware traffic, etc... let me know as I would like to link to this info from various webmaster related sites. Your efforts have been great but I would need to have links to like 30 gfy threads to push this information home, currently.

I agree with Vex a site needs to be set up about all this. Even links to where people can contact the DOJ and FTC concerning this whole mess.Zango parent company 180solutions was in hot water with the Justice Department earlier this year. The Federal Trade Commission received a formal complaint from the Center for Democracy and Technology claiming that the adware maker continues ?deceptive and unfair? methods in distributing software that generate popup ads.
In the complaint, the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit group told the FTC that 180solutions has ?remained brazenly reckless in its efforts to get its software on users? computers.? The CDT said it expects injunctions and penalties against 180solutions through the FTC. The company is best known for a 2004 incident in which it was accused of stealing commissions from its own affiliates.
Is there a "black list" of affiliate programs using it?

matter of time?? they already shifted the blame on this whole thing on AFF. So they are already fucking their partners. If zango would not have tossed the hot potatoe to AFF, AFF would have likely never replied to the "speculation" that was going on here. When Zango point blank said AFF was running those campaigns and basically over writting cookies (AFF said this is not how it works) then AFF has no option but to address this issues.

I just registered the domain " spywareblacklist.com " i am busy as hell with my own stuff but will try to get a site up in the next week or so. I am open to ideas / suggestions. Right now I am thinking, covering both "adware" companies and how they work, articles and news about them and also sponsors who support them and how they deal with it. Especially pointing out the sponsors who accept this type of traffc.

Careful with that. That site could easily become under constant DDOS attacks, hacked, and you know the rest. There are already sites that do that, in mainstream anyway. Contact them, maybe you can form some type of partnership and share info. Make sure you're 100% covered in the eyes of the law, because those scums have no scruples but they have a lot more money than you do.

I host all my stuff in house but i don't mind paying $10 or whatever it cost a month to someone else if you really think it will be under constant attack. I am confident my network can handle it but why deal with it if you only have to spend $10 and not have to waste time fighting the possible attacks.

I guess the topic did hold up rather better than is usually the case with business issues and for once GFY put other boards to shame.
However for perspective, the most popular of the various threads barely made the current top 30 and in terms of responses fared even less well, being beaten out by such mind-numbing topics as "Hot Women with Clothes On" and "I found some naked pics!" (that must have been hard). And it's a pity we couldn't have found the common will (no pun intended) to keep the issue alive and give them some direction, because for the thieves it is still business as usual and the rest of us continue to be screwed.
Which I realize is a prompt for someone to pipe up about discussions behind the scenes, but please spare me. Missie replied along those lines to a post of mine last week and my reaction was well that's one of the final nails in that coffin...Comment
