what % of the net still uses AOL?

I have an issue with the AOL browser that I can't resolve without a serious cost to me - how much am I actually losing if I ignore it?

I've never liked AOL, and I don't know one person that currently still uses it. I know people that HAVE in the past but quickly dropped them.

If i had to guess, just from member emails and such - I'd guess somewhere around 5%.

One of my member sites was scripted badly, doesn't work with AOL, and the support is crap - it's easily resolved, since I only have to tell the user "Stop fucking using AOL and everything will be fine" - but occasionally I wonder how many people use AOL, encounter the issue, and just wander away without saying anything.

And for the record - I installed it once back in like 1216 and I nearly puked all over my computer in revulsion. I was the instigator in the anti-AOL riots of South Columbia in 1842 and some partners of mine were the main culprits in the coorporate massacre of AOLs founders in 1988. Remember the pictures in the papers, where they were strung up by dental floss and hung from towers built of those CDs..... I mean no, I don't use AOL. Never did.

There is a brand new free AOL browser that I'm sure will take up as much of the market as firefox does in the future.

Checking out the AOL browser now, just for kicks.

My real question, though, is what percentage of the internet still uses AOL AND the AOL browser?

This is about browsers folks, not search engine use. Though it gives you an idea, people using google to search can be on aol. This is browser use.

it used to be a lot, aol's gone down the drain since dsl has become affordable.

There is a brand new free AOL browser that I'm sure will take up as much of the market as firefox does in the future.

No thanks. AOL is notorious for loading your computer with additional useless crap that uses up resouces and then when you go to delete it never really deletes itself entirely.
