Sorry for the late post, but I couldn't ignore this topic. We have thought about the future quite a bit and things look as fuzzy to us as they do to many of you.Originally posted by RictorChina's GDP is $7,262,000,000,000 a year. Some one in the country is spending some money. The only country higher is the U.S. with $12,370,000,000,000.
<snip>
While we agree with the above statement about GDP and China's immense purchasing power, you have to keep in mind that over 90% of all DVDs (porn, music, software) are pirated, with most movies being sold for 93 cents US on the street.
When the last Star Wars movie came out a US-based news organization (don't remember which one...Google it) had reporters in Mexico and China on the streets buying pirated cam DVDs the day it came out. While most copies were bad, some weren't.
That being said, we make signifant revenue from South American surfers and tend to redirect traffic from China elsewhere. It may be what we push on our various sites (including Asian niches), but we're guessing not.
If anyone out there has found the secret to getting dollars out of surfers from China we'd love to know about it!
Please note that I am talking about Chinese geo traffic and not Chinese language browser UAs coming from other countries. Those we do harness, and very well.Comment

Spyware is as much of a problem now, as it was last year when this thread was started and as it was 5 years ago. It isn't going away, it self spreads, and as long as people, adult & mainstream alike that will pay for it, we will always have it.
But, spyware does belong in the category of "fraud, scam, steal ids, sell credit card info, etc.." - It's just another problem to add to the list of reasons as to why people won't go back online.Last edited by TheDoc; 05-29-2007, 03:05 AM.

It's already been said...
Sample content: expect multiple 1 minute video clips.
Vlogs: Vlogs will become popular
TGP/MGP: Good traffic(large bandwidth connections) will diminish(US and other countries...) if the TGP's don't adapt. We can already see the trend. Sites that offer the surfer a good and unique experience(free ones for example) will gain traffic.
Content: The majority of the pay sites will move towards interactive content that cannot be stolen(unique) or offer a mix with their already existing content. May it be with a real person or a virtual experience.
Adult toys: Tele-dildonics should take off and the content/websites/toys should be a growing industry.
How: Content will be delivered to Computers, Gaming Consoles, Phones/PDAs, SET-TOP boxes/TV and maybe even Video-Conferencing devices(like a video-phone for example).
Who: Paysites will make acquisitions, but not only paysites. They will acquire various traffic sources to cut the middleman(the affiliates) slowly until there's none left.
Where: If the US continues to pass stupid laws, the companies become more and more outside the US.
Most likely: Bad websites with horrible members area will die because of very bad retention rate/increasing competition

The industry is based on the surfer.
The internet is in the beginning stages of a sexual revolution.
1) a. Computers replacing women. b. Mass exposure of sexual content to minors.
Flooded market = dropped sales.
I don't think anyone will buy porn. I think they will use it to sell other products/services and then write it off as a loss-leader.SIG 4 SALE! $2 A YEAR!Comment

I'm not threatened by P2P, bootlegged videos or torrents. While we agree with the above statement about GDP and China's immense purchasing power, you have to keep in mind that over 90% of all DVDs (porn, music, software) are pirated, with most movies being sold for 93 cents US on the street.

The people who are going to steal porn would have contributed a collective annual of $658.99 cents to our billion dollar industry. Fuck em. Take it. PROMOTE FOR US!
We just gotta keep strokin the white collars. If we're loosing revenue from kids downloading porn, tax the man. HE'LL PAY WHATEVER WE FUCKING CHARGE HIM!SIG 4 SALE! $2 A YEAR!Comment
