I've witnessed many a thread here with people giving her advice and she just goes off on them saying the same thing each time: It works for my members, blah blah blah ....

Well Venus, if the 20D works for your members then keep using it. Sort of like that old saying: If it ain't broke don't fix it.
I don't care if you believe it or not. Constructive criticism is called "constructive" for a reason. If your going to critique someones work, tell them whats wrong with it and then tell them how to fix it. In fact, the definition of "constructive" is..."promoting improvement or development". Now read back over Mike South's first statement and show me how what he said would promote improvement or dvelopment in Venus's work.
Mike's comment was not constructive criticism but merely his opinion of the picture. Big difference

I think that creative people, whether a photographer, a painter, a web designer, a musician or any other creative person would usually appreciate constructive criticism as long as it's delivered in a professional & respectful manner. The problem is that this is GFY and full of idiots who have no idea what they are talking about.
In order for Venus to grow as a shooter, she should only be entertaining constructive criticism from people who are better then she is. Who wants to take advice from someone who is not on their level? Mike South is a decent shooter and I have a lot of respect for what he's done....but I've seen nothing that he's done that Venus can't do. Why would she want to take advice from Mike South? Had Mike been "constructive" with his comments, you might have seen a different attitude by Venus. Nobody likes their work to be attacked on a public board and that's why it's important to make your comments "constructive". This is a little too complicated for most of the surfers here to understand though

pretty funny shit considering paul asked why her pics were underexposed while owning a digital camera.

In response to them that sez my criticism wasnt constructive...bad lighting is about all I could say...without being the I cant tell her what she did wrong or how to improve it beyound slowing down her shutter speed by a half stop or so.
I did tell her to back off the photoshop...the model looks ridiculously artifical....worse than a real doll.Mike South

Man then she better never post on some of the photography boards I post on.People post pics ask for critique and comments, some get really harsh, at first my feelings were hurt but then I looked at my work and they were right. every good photo journalist carries a point and shoot even if its a disposeable because you never know when you will need a camera and only have less than 30 seconds to get a shot...life doesn't pose for your camera you capture it 1/60th of a second at a timeMike South
