WWI, WWII.. Our forces are often deep in the shit and take a major beating but we're no fucking candy asses that's for sure... Our guys get pretty fucking badass when there's a job to be done. We've taken major casulties in Afganistan in the fight against the Taliban etc. i.e. while the US has taken around 500 casualties and we've taken 120 or so, we have less than 10% of the US forces over there so we've actaully taken more casualties as a percentage. And it's not that our forces are crappy, it's that we've been in the front line of the action there.
You have to remember though that at the time we were still more tightly tied to Britain and really, had to defend the "motherland".. I didn't realize until just the last few weeks though just how instrumental our ports and tiny little navy was in ensuring the convoys kept the supplies flowing into the UK.
