That is one good thing about not living there. I get news from all over the world and they often tell a very different story than American media. There is no censor on many of these stations, showing blood and guts sometimes. It's gnarly. But some of the reporting is incredible as well as the stories they run.
Also, because of where I am, I happen to have contact with guys who work for PMCs in both Afghanistan and Iraq, who come to Thailand for holiday. Some of the stories these guys tell, OMFG, and some of the photos and video they bring with them, OMFGx2. It paints a totally different picture than what Americans believe is going on. It's a mess and it's down right brutal murder. And when the US military can't do it, they bring in the mercs to do it. It's all just horrible.
