I read this article last night and found it pretty interesting

Next to it is a video interview with a soldier that was there. You sometimes forget how crazy it must have been. You know that sinking feeling when you get into a bad situation, well I can only assume when those landing boats opened up and the soldiers looked out, it must have been that feeling times 10 MILLION!!

The water was red and bodies were just floating past you. Crazy stuff.

But like most things, the planning of the invasion was a failure and the soldiers on the ground were the ones that pulled it off. Just like Iraq, the whole plan was a total fuck up, the soldiers on the ground should get all the credit for any success that comes from it. That seems to be how battles go. The leaders fuck up, and the soldiers end up pulling it off anyway.
