It is glossed over because ther are so many left wing people (although that is now starting to change), that control these outlets. It is almost "fashonable" among the colleges and Hollywood crowd to be an "intellectual communist". "Communism" would refer to a specific government, usually an authoritarian socialist one. There has never been a true communist leader who came to power. They worked hard and got to the top through whatever tactics they have.
Now study Marx and you'll see that everything these leaders did completely contradicts the most basic tenets of both communism and socialism. A "communist government" is actually a contradiction in terms. A government that bases itself on marxist philosophy is actually socialist. Communism actually refers to a global political system that occurs when all world governments are in accordance and therefore there is no need for military or economical competition.
It's just that americans have been taught that communism = Stalinism, which is completely untrue. It's like some other dictatorship using Enron as a blanket example of american philosophy(which does happen also).icq 279990726
