You summed it up quite well, but forgot mentioning the effects of media/marketing and banks. Media makes you think you need all those unnecessary shit, it makes you want 10 time mor than you can afford. Banks are giving loans to everyone, for all the luxury stuff... I am not blaming any of the three participants in this, as all are "guilty" in it, however basicly the economy should be boosted by the people who want more than they can afford -> it makes them more productive, but obviously there's a border/limit, what if you exceed you won't be able to pay back and you'll realize too late and you can lose your house and everything you already reached. Its a bit like with drugs: never blame the drugs. Blame the stupid user behind them.
Back to the topic: maybe I live under a rock, but I just can't figure out why so many ppl hate and fuck with Barefootsies. He works, he does not scam no one. I clarified that 'in the bank' was a figure of speech. As if it was not enough to include i.e. investments in original post. He typed a detailed reply, and I inferred he took my post to literal with the break down in interest rates for having money just sitting in a bank account, and not in an investment.

Agreed. There are some rare cases when you can get a CD or something at a higher rate than a loan, but not often. Even if you can, the profit you are making on it is so miniscule that it's not even worth it. Not to mention the effect debt has on your credit score which can hurt you in more serious purchases like property.
