Break it down:

If you can find a PPS of just $30 and do only 5 trial joins a day with them, you will make a little over $50,000 dollars.

Now add to the mix higher PPS programs and more joins a day. If I can push 20 - 30 trial joins a day to various programs with the bare minimum of $30 PPS, that's almost $220,000 USD a year. Of course I make more than that because I prefer to push programs with a higher PPS. Many programs will give me a higher PPS just because I can push more traffic. Some even as high as $50, with my average being $43. So do the math on 20 trial joins a day (on a bad day) at $43 a sale. It's EASY to make a KILLING in this business once you have your business model in place.

I don't care about cross sales, I don't care if they bang cards and I don't care if they fuck over the surfer or the industry as a whole. I only care about ME getting PAID today. I don't want to be doing this in 5 years and THIS is how I achieve that goal.

BVF, you probably do OK too. I think you own the market you are in. I see people poke fun at you but I think you're a genius. If you maximize your members or not is another story, I don't know, but the potential is there for sure.
