27-year-old Natasha Timarovic was brushing her teeth when she was struck by lightning in the mouth while bending over under the tap to rinse. The lightning exited through her anus, causing severe burns.
Doctors say rubber shoes she was wearing at the time forced the lightning to find another exit. "It was incredibly painful, I felt it pass through my torso and then I don't remember much at all," said Timarovic.
Doctors at the hospital said "It appears to have earthed through the damp shower curtain that she was touching as she bent over to put her mouth under the tap. If she had not been wearing the shoes she would probably have been killed by the blast."
