Yeah, be careful with that - I sat on one of those for about a year, and it helped a lot with my lower back pain, but started causing me hip problems. Make sure the ball is properly inflated and is the perfect height for your legs.

Its actually all in the garage now waiting for paint to dry - I'll post pics probably later today or tomorrow morning after I get it set back up. I'll show you "sitting mode" and "standing mode".

Okay, its actually very simple - I have a regular desk with an LCD on a nice arm mount... I built a raised platform to sit on top of the desk to hold my wireless keyboard and mouse. When I want to stand for a while, I just raise up the LCD and tweak the angle, grab this platform off my bookshelf, and keep cranking. Its really easy to switch in and out, and its hand built so its tuned to the perfect height... ergonomically.

Here is a quick close up of the construction - its just a nice plank of that laminated particle board crap they use for Ikea style desks with 4 legs made out of 2x4 pine.

Here is a shot of the back of the LCD - this arm can go 360 degrees in a circle, the monitor can spin 360 about its axis, and it can go up down/back forth to just about any imaginable configuration, without too much effort:

All you need now is a stepper underneath the desk for in standing mode, or a treadmill and you can excersise aswell

That's a great idea .. beats me sitting on my macbook pro on my couch (sofa for you yanks ) with my fat ass creating a huge fucking lifetime crater that my kids fall into every time they sit in my spot ..

So you're looking down on your monitor when in standing mode? Bad for your neck. Should be at eye-height is what I heard.

Only slightly, and only in that pic - I just whipped it up to standing mode for the picture. It goes up so that the top of the monitor is just below my natural forward-looking eye gaze.

I also have a wall mount for the arm that I might hook up if it turns out to be too low.

Yeah, I looked around and those things are crazy expensive and they seem like they'd be difficult to switch around. A friend of a friend is an amateur woodworker and he made one from scratch- its beautiful, but no way would I be able to pull that off.

You could get to swing arms that attach to the desk itself to have the keyboard on. With 2 positions. Just woke up so can't explain it. Think of a desklamp that has two swivel points so you can extend it full up or crank it down. Now double that one on each side of what you made without the legs. So if you want to stand up, you loosen a couple adjustable screw turners on each side pull the desk up into position and retighten. And in the down position it could swivel out in front of the desk to the same point your current keyboard tray goes to. May already be something like that out there but Im still sleepy so not thinking right yet lol
