Need a XBOX 360 Receipt - ($$$)

    Need a XBOX 360 Receipt - ($$$)

    Well, my XBOX360 decided to crap out on me. It's one of those known problems, screen freezing and now a consistant solid 3 redlights. I called up for warranty information, and they're trying to tell me that my warranty has expired. They want to charge me for the repairs, and I simply don't feel like wasting money to repair something that was faulty to begin with.

    I need someone to scan a legit copy of their receipt for me, so I can photoshop my serial / purchase date onto it. This is the only way they will honor the warranty and fix the box. I'm willing to paypal you a few bucks for the receipt copy. ($10 or so?) It will save me a lot of trouble.

          Or if you want to make the scam a whole lot easier since after all it seems ok to you.

          Go to your local wal mart and buy a new xbox. Take it home and swap the outer shell. Since they may check serial number on the bottom or wherever.
          Package up the old but now new xbox and return it.

          At least that way you are ripping off two major corporations instead of just one.

              take it to wallmart and tell them you lost the reciept or got it as a gift they will exchange it (at least they do here) no reciept = exchange or moneyorder sent by mail

                      After Shock Media: I don't know about you buddy, but I don't plan on spending $200 to get a 360 repaired that was faulty to begin with. It's a common problem. If it was my fault, I would have no issue paying for the repairs / buying a new one.

                                  Call them back and you will more then likely talk to someone different that might honor it. Mr. Pheer just sent one back that he bought the first day if I remember right. You should be fine.

                                                              Well it is your fault that you don't have the receipt. Don't try and scam by using someone else's receipt. It will teach you to keep better track of your receipts. That is your responsibility.

                                                                              I doubt that will work because I'd imagine they can still trace back the serial number of the product for that particular receipt/purchase.

                                                                                                      What he intends to do is photoshop HIS xbox 360's serial number/purchase date on the receipt. All he wants to do is make it seem like he bought the item from Walmart say back in November 2005 or whenever. It's a scam for sure, but it's not an overly dastardly one -- at most what he did was bought a defunct unit from eBay for $200-250, called up MS and complained about the three rings of red deathness, they told him what he needed to send it back. The scam really isn't hurting anyone except the original purchaser of the Xbox 360, but that was his or own fault for not knowing about the recall of units made before January 2006.

                                                                                                          I don't know about the US, but here in The Netherlands we actually have laws about such things. No matter what the warranty says, manufacturers are required to deliver a product that, under normal conditions, lasts for a time that is reasonable considering the price of the product.

                                                                                                          If a product craps out sooner than could reasonably be expected, and the cause of it lies in design or manufacturing flaws, the manufacterer is required by law to pay for part of the repairs, or even all of them.

The receipt is to prove that you bought the item there. If you lose the receipt and a product breaks, you are shit out of luck without the receipt. You would think an adult would keep better track of their receipts and warranties. If not you get what you deserve.

However, if he bought an xbox made before jan 2006, he should just give MS a call. They have admitted their mistakes and are replacing/repairing xboxes free of charge.
