I was a installing a new 1.1ghz chip on my msi motherboard and decided that maybe it was time to update the bios. I ran the live bios update provided by msi, half way through the update(it was rebuilding the bios) the fucker froze and I was forced to turn off my comp. Now when I try to turn it back on, it freezes at the logo screen, it won't even let me go into the bios. Does anyone know how or if I can rebuild my bios? Or is my whole motherboard fucked now?

why dont you just goto the manufacturer site for the mother board and goto their support and ask. Chances are good that you would only have to replace the bios chip or get it reprogramed

d00d... bios firmware updating is serious bizniss... if you don't know what the fuck you're doing you SHOULD NOT ATTEMPT IT. And I'm sure there were plenty of warnings that you completely ignored.

Not sure if this information will help or not, this is the error/where it stops at that I get the led diagnostic:
Testing Base and Extended Memory. Testing Base memory from 240k to 640k and extended member above 1mb using various parterns.Comment

you can send it to the manufactor but im sure it will cost as much as the M.B. itself.

Not always the case as many motherboards hold a recovery routine in ROM which enables you to pull in a default bios or recover from a floppy file.Comment

You've ended up with a corrupted bios, so you'll need to replace the chip.Comment

Also aggred with AMP i actualy work as a Phone Tech for DELL COMPUTERS and flashing your BIOS with out following any sort of instructions or support you most likly have FUCKED your MB UP..Comment

Most BIOS manufacturers (Award, Phoenix, and AMI) now include an option known as Boot Block protection

Even it it just sits there and beeps it can be repaired
I probably fix one a month.
on older MB's I have to pull the BIOS and use a EPROM programmer to fix it.Comment
