NEW ORLEANS - Porn star Stormy Daniels says she's formed a committee to explore a possible run for the U.S. Senate seat held by Louisiana Republican David Vitter and will begin raising money for a potential campaign.
Daniels says in a news release that she will soon visit western and northern Louisiana to hear from voters, after recent trips to Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Daniels, who hasn't chosen a party affiliation, says she is serious about running.
She insists she is not simply seeking publicity or attempting to embarrass Vitter, whose family values reputation was marred in 2007 when he was linked to a Washington escort service.
