This is not true. Men gain fat in pretty much a universal pattern. You gain it at your core (stomach) first and develop out from there. The same is true in reverse. When you start losing fat, it comes first from the outside (arms and legs) and lastly from your stomach. What this means is your gut will be the very last fat that burns off and the first to come out.Originally posted by paterson3713Oh and just a bit more about spot reducing fat. Every person puts fat on at different parts of their body first.
I'm down to about 12% body fat now, and my arms/legs/shoulders are cut with a lot of vasculater (sp?) (No fat to pad the veins, so they stick out). My abs are just now starting to come through..Comment

Not quite true. Some men will develop manboobs and backflab right along with their beergut.Originally posted by WarChildThis is not true. Men gain fat in pretty much a universal pattern. I, for one, can get sixpack abs with relative ease, but losing my lovehandles, backflab or manboobs is almost impossible. (which isn't all that bad, because even at high fat percentages, I can look buff rather than fat)/(bb|[^b]{2})/Comment

Again, that's weight at the core, starting from the center moving out. I said almost universallyOriginally posted by LibertineNot quite true. Some men will develop manboobs and backflab right along with their beergut.

Those machines you listed are OK however abs can be trained quite well by doing simple leg raises, for lower abs and crunches for upper. Remember you cannot spot reduce your fat in other words the best way to get a six pack is through diet. ie low fat moderate carbs, and reduced caloriesComment

the correct answer.Originally posted by engorgecashRetards.
Spot weight loss is a myth. Doing a thousand crunches won't spot reduce fat around your midsection.
Nothing but cardio and a calorie defecit diet will reduce fat around your abdominals.
do 30 minutes of bicycling a day plus about 15 mins on a bowflex, and stay at a no gain caloric intake for your body size and you will have perfect "abs".Comment

3 X 10 burpees
1 hour on the elliptical (12,000 strides) will kill about 950 calories there alone
2 miles on the treadmill
I do this every other day. Intense, and I love it.

Anyways, guy or girl, you should know the fastest way to getting in shape is lifting heavy ass weights. Compound lifts such as deads, squats, bench, shoulder press, dips and chinups even...
For beginners, most of the time a regimen of 3 workouts per week, hitting all major muscle groups with some heavy lifts is probably easiest. Don't waste time in the gym, get out in 30-45 mins... throw in some early morning cardio as often as possible to burn extra cals and speed up recovery from your weight lifting sessions...
Keep a decent diet, lose any form of liquid cals (no pop, juice or milk, etc... what a waste of calories), eat 5-6 times a day...
Losing weight is easy in concept, hard in practise cuz we are all naturally lazy fucks.

I guess i'll stick to what i'm already doing cycling 30 minutes three times and week and just use my dumbbells a bit more until i drop down to what they say my 'ideal' weight is then worry on muscle building. Diet if you want to call it that is pretty good so i probably won't make many changes there.Comment

finally someone who knows.Anyways, guy or girl, you should know the fastest way to getting in shape is lifting heavy ass weights
this is the way Ive trained people
and the heavy ass weights includes women.
fluffer weights and routines equals a fluffer body.

the correct answer is to continue what your doing untill
your happy with what you see in the mirror.
your weight is meaningless.
I'll leave you with the best ab exercise there is.
and that is
the one you will do.Comment

Judging by your total lack of any noticeable muscle tone you still are probably atleast 50lbs overweight. Lose the weight, and if you want to work your abs do a few situps.Comment

Why would it?Originally posted by fallenmuffinThanks for the support lol your post doesn't make me feel realllllllllly bad or anything LOL
Use it for motivation. I'll be honest and say that if I didn't have a pretty large store of nasty comments I wouldn't be able to lift weights and work so hard on keeping in shape and improving myself.
BTW - at least go get a gym membership for $50 a month so you can lift something heavier then 15lbs... my groceries weigh more then that!
With those 15lbs dumbbells, what are you doing? how many sets/reps?Comment

20 curls (one arm at a time)
20 extended arm things (i extend my arm out while holding the dumbbell, and it almost kills me lol)
20 behind the neck things (Both hands holding one dumbbell up and down motion)
20 squats
Thats about all I do with them atmComment
