Took the Motorcycle out again today ....

I've been riding a bit each day .. the cooler weather is nice because i can wear a heavy jacket in-case i go down. I got a good feel for the bike now and riding is fun ... I look forward to it each day but I'm sure it will be too cold within a week or two. I added some mirrors to the bike being that it didn't have any ...some pretty cool looking Iron crosses ... I also put the front fender back on... it looks great without it but I've noticed some small rocks kicking up and that's the last thing i need being a new rider.

OK .. just figured I'd keep the few guys that took interest in my last thread an update .. I look forward to the spring when i can ride a bit more.

here's a pick of the bike at the last owners house before the mirrors and front fender.

Glad to see you're riding, it's among the most fun things you can do. I had a bike license before I had a license to drive a car. Took many years off after a terrible accident, and recently bought a bike again, only to sell it when I went back to Costa Rica.

If there's one piece of advice I can give you it's ride at your own level. Don't let anybody push you to drive faster, turn harder or do anything else you're not comfortable with. Other than that, enjoy man, enjoy.

fenders and mirrors are pretty handy items, no matter how long you have been riding

you can ride all year long if you are dressed properly.

get a widder or gerbing 12 volt electric vest to wear underneath your jacket, use a rheostat temp control similar to an electric blanket. can also tie in electric pants, gloves, and socks if your bike's alternator puts out enough wattage (500 wts +)

get a full face helmet that fits properly and use a balaclava underneath.

now take a riding course asap.

have a complete understanding of the concepts of counter steering and target fixation. this has to be second nature in a panic situation.

IMO ditch the fashion mirrors and get mirrors that will actually show what's behind you and what's to your side.

the first year on a bike is the most lethal time. understand the physics. ain't the same as riding a bicycle.

            good luck.

sport rider since 1968, never hurt on a bike, and i will be the first to tell you motorcycles are VERY dangerous.

              nice bike
we have a bike though after an extreamly long cold ride we have not ridden it in a few weeks. 4 hours of bitter mountain cold take a while to get over

              good luck

yeah .. i liked the way it looked but I'm more concerned with safety at this point ... like latinasojourn said the cross mirrors don't really give me a clear view . I'll have to get something a bit better ... I road today and you really can't see shit out of them

Lots of fun, but be careful.

If you get in a car wreck, you just lost your ride.

I think what she means is that in EU that bike would not pass inspection and could not be ridden on the streets. Aren't you afraid the cops will stop you for not having legal equipment?
