I don't know notabook personally and I'm sure he might be a good guy but to make humor out of a very sick and disturbing subject like that is fucking repulsive. I donate some of my profits to organizations such as the Humane Society and many others to help these unfortunate animals. We are here to help protect these animals, not use them for science. They do have feelings and the sick fucks that perform those experiments should be the ones that are used for experiments instead of animals. Don't give me that bs that they are helping us to live longer. I would rather die from whatever would be ailing me than have all those animals suffer for me to live longer.

So if you have a family member or a loved one that develops diabetes you will curse them for taking insulin? If you develop diabetes yourself would you seriously not take the insulin? The good bulk of ALL of our medical science, nearly everything we know about the human body, nearly every disease we've learned to cure, nearly any illness we've learned to treat... ALL of that information has come from animal testing. If we can come up with a cure for alzheimer's by probing a few cats brains then so be it. If you can find a way to heal those who are paralyzed by cutting a few mice spines, go for it.

There will be a day that we will not be so dependent on animal testing. As more and more computers like the earth simulator are being built we can do increasingly more complex and difficult testing on a computer rather than an animal. But that day is not today, and it will not be tomorrow. Until then it is up to humanity to evolve and progress and to attempt to cure fellow humans of the ails that plague them because human beings ? our own kind ? should ALWAYS come first.

How do you know insulin was derived from animal testing by means of electrodes and torture? I would not curse someone from taking insulin. Prove me wrong but the means of developing insulin is as far as I know from bovine pancrease. The animal does not need to be killed or tortured to create insulin.

More cures can be created from stem cell research not torture.

This really irks me the wrong way. For you to make a desperate attempt at a humorus thread on a sickening topic and exploit the torture of animals for your own sick amusement is really fucked up. You really need to grow up and focus your energy and time in a more positive driection.

The animal itself maybe didn't have to be killed or tortured from the extraction processes. But who do you think we tested the insulin on first to see the effects of what would happen? We injected plenty of insulin into hundreds of animals before it was perfected to a point that we could inject it into ourselves. The bad batches probably killed many of those living animals and they died writhing in pain. But guess what? It has led to treating millions of human beings who suffer from diabetes and I am so grateful that scientists are willing to do such research for the betterment of mankind.

Right. But what do you think we're using to test the results of stem cell research on? We sever the spines of rats then inject them chock full of stem cells (at the point of injury). We're not going to test any treatment on humans first. After thousands upon thousands of LIVING animals have been tested on only then will we use stem cell research in a more wide-spread use on humans. Unfortunately stem cell research is pounded on by multiple people on a multiple front (christian right and liberal hippy peta douche bags). Awesome. Way to slow down curing diseases you assholes.

Unfortunately, that just lets us learn about how our body looks and how it works somewhat -- most tests require a living subject with a beating heart and a circulatory system, and a body that can be effected from medical treatment. Dead corpses are nearly useless for those kinds of tests.
