400 might be a lot to you, but some domainers have over 400,000 domains. Most registers will not bargain with you, and you should look to pay no more than $7.50-12.99 each. I have used godaddy, namecheap, and moniker.

When I 1st started you had to use network solutions...they charged at the time $35 for 2 years. If you wanted to transfer the domain to someone fast...they charged you $200...otherwise you had to wait a couple of weeks for them to transfer.

I recommend anyone with great domains to start registering them for the max number of years...everything goes up in price...and so will domains.
