I think that should read "Many review sites are dead". We get great traffic from a handful of quality review sites. They certainly are far from dead.

Review sites are mis named.. they do very little reviewing...
Most of there criteria are related to quantity / updates / navigation so original or creative sites can not win against big players.
The traffic some send is good, but we find that blogs send more traffic and generate more sales...
Most "Review Sites" promote the few sites on their front pages and the traffic the rest get is minimal.
How bad review sites are can be judged by how a normal TV program would rate on their scoring system. A high quality drama would score worse than the shopping channel. Shopping channel far more content good navigation and tons of updated and all in HD ...
