              While I agree it was a bit overboard. It is definitely the best protest I have seen in a while in terms of opening peoples eyes and spreading their message. Hard to hate when people are that passionate about something. I also have this view cause I missed getting stuck in that mess by about 10 minutes. Had I been stuck in it I am sure my opinion would be slightly different

                                              It's not like the Canadian government is supplying the Sri Lankan government with weapons and military advisers or anything. Canada isn't known for sticking their noses in other people's business as a rule, so I think an unlawful protest is excessive. If they held a peaceful rally in keeping with Canadian laws governing such demonstrations, or maybe, I don't know, started a public relations drive to get more people involved, that would be better than blocking a highway and getting the riot police out in their gear, ya know?

                                                                  Or is it that protests aren't supposed to affect anyone? Is that not the whole idea?

                                                                  If the protesting didn't affect you, you might still have no idea about the struggle their people are facing. They were really successful, and stopped when they got what they wanted. One of the best protests this city has seen I'd say.

                                                                  And if you're more angry about the "way they did it" and that's more important to you than thousands of people being murdered, then uhhmmmm...

                                                                                                  I think this sends a terrible message to protesters from now on that it is OK to occupy major roadways. What would have happened if some poor child was dragged out onto that expressway and struck and killed. Will every protest group from now on just avoid going to embassies and just go straight to the gardiner LOL!?

                                                                                                  The bottom line is that it is absolutely OK to protest for what you believe in but the way they protested was illegal and dangerous... Not only to themselves but to innocent motorists who happened to be using the roadway.

                                                                                                                      Its pathetic how these fuckers used kids as human shields on the Gardner-Expressway.

                                                                                                                      I blame that spineless McGuinty and the Toronto Police for this latest fiasco. McGuinty has sat on his hands during the native blockades - which has proven to be the precedent for these protest groups to take over whatever the hell they feel like. And Toronto Police Chief Blair is also a spineless jellyfish - slow to act and not take a tough stance.

                                                                                                                      We should designate a pier down by Toronto harbour as a place for them to protest. And when the freighter arrives - load all these cocksuckers onboard and ship'em back to Sri Lanka where they belong.

I bet since then, the Tigers have even got more sophisticated at shaking down the community like using a database to send out letters saying their "health insurance" is overdue.

                                                                                                                                                          the poin f the protest was not to support terrorism but to prevent the death of civilians, some say far outnumber 9/11 to put it in perspective. I suppose a way to get media attention to something largely ignored in comparison to something like 9/11 etc
