I'd like to take this time to dispell a popular myth.
You know, the one when people are out of work and someone says
"Fucking work at McDonalds".
I used to work for McDonalds when I was a teen back in the old days when they actualy used a grill. I was the cook and I learned something working there.
I learned that there is no fucking job waiting for you at McDonalds!
It took my about a year of applying and re-applying at every McDonalds in my city before I got hired. But wait! I actually had to get an inside connection to get the stupid job. I got hired to work at the same McDonalds that my older brother was working. He got me in.
But wait. My brother finally got in because the manager went to highschool with him!!!!!!!
Even in a low paying "undesirable" job like that you still have to know somebody.
Here's the big secret that people dont realize:
"McDonlads wants to hire good people too!!!!!!!!"
They don't want some idiot fucking up their food, so they don't hire every idiot that walks in with no referrences.
Further; one McDonalds manager said to me "people say nobody wants to work here, look at this". He showed me a stack of applications that was about 4-5 inches high. He said these were the applications filed in the last month. They keep them for 30 days and then throw them out. That's why you have to re-apply every 30 days if you want to get hired. He showed me that to explain why I was not getting hired.
Fact: the only way to get hired at McDonalds is to put in an application the same day that someone quits. They interview the people applyig right then for the job and don't even look at the applications filed a wee ago because maybe those people got hired some where else by now so why waste a phone call when a person ready to work just walked in.
So if you are out of work thinking you will hold out and continue to search for the perfect job and if things get tuff you will just run down to McDonalds and work there then you are going to fuck yourself.
McDonalds doesn't owe you shit, they dont give a fuck about your problems, way too many people apply and your chances of getting hired are basically zero.
For those who do get hired: You will work a maxium of 19 hours a week because 20 hours is the limit of when, by law, they have to start providing you with health insurance. Minimum wage time 19 hours is all you'll ever fucking make(management excluded of course). If you pull an eight hour shift be prepared to work 7 hours and 45 minutes stright and then be told to go on break, then clock back in and immediatey clock out and go home.
Because by law they have to give at least one 15 minute break per eight hours so you get your break at the end of your fucking 8 hour shift!
But hey, it's their policy that if they forget to put you on break and you work the full eight hours they will pay for your meal. At the employee discount that's about $1.50 for a 1/4pder with chees, large fry and drink. And that explains why the never forget to tell you to clock out 15 minutes before the shift ends.
Good day...enjoy yur fantasies about people solving any money problems by running down to McDonalds...it wont happen.
