What's worse - selling porn or used cars? Donny?

Personally - from everyone I know in porn and everyone i know that sells used cars - USED CAR SALESMEN are the WORST human beings- by far.

anyone going from porn to selling used cars is a person with deep person problems and has no issues what so ever fucking people over for their own personal benifit.

When I go to a social outing - I have an acquaintance who sells used cars - we tell people what we do. Suddenly and instantly after we say what we do for a living everyone INSTANTLY LOVES ME and Instantly HATES him.

I honestly believe all used car salesmen and used car finance managers won't goto hell - cause they are alredy there.

can anyone here imaging ANYTHING worse than working in the used car industry for one's carma and self worth as well as the ethical issues?

You guys have to realize that as parents in the industry, we all have to come to that crux and figure out how to deal with it. I'm sure Donny wasn't ever prepared to deal with the moral/ethical/personal issues that would arise with his son learning about what his dad does for a living for at least another 5-10 years. When faced with those massive decisions and dilemmas, especially when it involves your children, the emotional ups and downs are tremendous. I'm sure Donny's gone the gammut from furious anger to total self-loathing over the whole issue, as any good parent would. (Not saying we should be ashamed of what we do, but the implications are a lot bigger than a kid knowing about nudity or sexuality).

As a person on our own, we deal with consequences one way.. when there's a kid involved it really changes the parameters. I think that when Donny calms down and has time time to work it out, he'll realize he can find a balance between the two without having to do anything drastic. He's a smart guy, he's a great dad, he just has to adjust to a new way of thinking. It forces you to think about things that sometimes as adults on our own don't worry about too much. Wrestle with demons and come to terms with certain essential (and often overlooked truths) about ourselves. When Donny realizes he has no reason to be ashamed of his life or what he has done or will do, the rest will fall into place. It might not be where people WANT him to go, but in the end, Donny has to make his own path.

Of course.. I don't neccessarily think in my shoes I'd have done the same as Donny.. but it is true. I have three kids at home full time (aside from school etc) and believe me it's a delicate dance. It's do-able but believe me it will be a very trying day the day that the facts get laid out to the kids. Eventually, if we're still in the industry, it will happen. I can completely understand how, if my kids were to find out BEFORE I told them myself (when they were old enough to understand and be responsible with the knowledge), I would be a mess until I figured out how to deal with it. The implications in that kind of situation can range from easy fix to very serious. It's especially difficult when his son is not as local to him and is being raised in someone else's household the majority of the time. It can take a little longer to acclimatize to the knowledge and figure out a good strategy.

Personally though I figure Donny will come around and realize he can have a balance if he wants to. I also relate strongly to his strictly religious upbringing, and that can carry it's own weight without one even realizing it until it hits full strength. It's very good that Donny has a lot of caring, loving friends who are there to help him out. (I don't doubt that Belinda's carnal offerings are tempting too!)

I'm incredibly insulted by this thread. I spent 5 years selling used cars and 8 years selling porn. I can tell you that I didn't help society in either role but damn I learned business. The bigger issue is that selling cars and being great at it is much harder than selling porn. Luckily, I learned a thing or two about them both.

I wouldn't take my years in the car business back for any amount of money. It was the best training I ever received. Your lack of vision in this thread doesn't deserve any more explanation than this.

Incidentally, I'm also a pawn broker and a part-time professional poker player so I challenge anyone to to a sleeze profession battle.

I was a car salesman, used and new. Did F&I, and later was a service manager.

You go to a car dealership, in any capacity, be prepared to be fucked with. You think you won't in th Service Department? Next time you go in, see how many times you are asked to do a service, or you have enough miles to do a timing belt, or have a problem you didn't even know you had.

You can't ask for better sales experience from anywhere. But you have to live with yourself, and the shit you put ppl through and the money you make.

Hmm, does he really make his own path?

Somehow I got the impression that the morals of te society dictate his path. Morals tell us selling porn is evil. That´s why he decided as he did. So it is more or less not his own decision, but a moral force to get a clean reputation.

Morals on the other hand are protected by people like this politician who fought this evil internet porn while trying to get sexual satisfaction by chatting with young employees.
