mm that sounds like OG in it's purest form.. nowadays i'd say it's evolved to encompass a whole lot more... OG, while technically meaning what BM noted, can be applied to any pioneer, maybe even broader. In my opinion OG means pioneer of anything. There may be some new guys at McDonald's that call the long term employees OG's because they're senior, who knows. It's been 3 months since I quit that shitty job anyhow.

You probably wouldn't believe this... but I was declared an O.G. by a good friend of mine who has been a crip since the early 80s. I laughed at him... but he was as serious as a heart attack. He told me that he never thought he would meet a white boy as "down" as me. We have been friends for almost 20 years and he is still as "gangsta" as the day I met him. We hung out every night for years when I was doing dirt... but I grew out of it because I was tired of going to jail.

Growing up in the 80's in SO Cal, this was the shit that I lived... This NWA, Rodney O and Joe Cooley, Hi-C, music like this.. but if you didn't live the life, then you didn't know... You just didn't You had to be in a gang, you had to live that life, you had to be in the path of the bullets. You had to wake up and be happy that you did. You had to be have that fear that when you were out on a Friday night cruising the streets.. someone just might be taking some shots at you that night... not because you are out, but because you had done something to them or their boys that last night and gotten away with it, or that your man that is in riding shotgun may have done it and you might catch that bullet instead of him... but you still go out cuz it's fucking friday or whatever and you need to go out and cap some more fools or come up on some pussy while your out trying to make a name for yourself. You live that life and survive.. well then after awhile, your an OG... or if you died for your dirt... Your an OG... You are down for your crime... OG You get thru it, find a girl, and get out... OG... when your telling people to make moves and your runnin it... OG... when it's 2009 and your still around and you been thru the gutter and now your making porn for a living and can still get respect on the streets.. OG...

much much respect to the Socal OGs. I think OG can also describe a leader, a man amongst men, someone who inspires others to do great things. A strong figure that doesn't have to say a lot to get a buy-in to their mission. Ice-T is the original mainstream OG figure but the term OG is much bigger now.
