Penthouse Magazine - seen one lately?

I bought a subscription to Penthouse Magazine a while back and got my first issue in today. As I was thumbing thru it, I noticed that there was not "one" open leg picture in the whole magazine. I mean - notta....nothing!

I think Playboy is more explicit then Penthouse now. Anyone else notice this?

Penthouse is a completely different animal then what I remember. Wonder how this is working out for them

I haven't seen one for a long time. Last time I did I was surprised to see hardcore on the newsstand. I guess they're going completely in the other direction now. Seems like a desperate "let's try anything before we kill it" marketing tactic. I doubt it will work for them but you never know.

My attorney ran penthouse for years, during the guccione days, and he still gets pre release copies of the mag. I was over his house working on some contracts, when he got the copy of the new format after marc bell bought it. Both of us looked it over, kinda looked at each other and said its maxim with tits. No, it sounds like a company with a new owner, knowing that the previous direction pretty much sent them to the poor house. You can't run a magazine like Penthouse with it's overhead and whatnot if you aren't attracting advertisers, and most them stay away from full hardcore.

Which "mens" magazines are selling and getting the media coverage? Maxim and all the similar mags in that group. Heck, my local magazine store loads those near the front of the store... while the porno mags are on a hidden rack near the back of the store.

i had a couple of conversations with Marc Bell the guy who bought Penthouse two years ago - he told me this was his plan - the magazine would go towards Maxim and they'd go more aggressive and hardcore on the video side - didn't really make sense to me - you're either one or the other i think - buy another brand like Playboy did if u want to do hardcore.

They dumped all their old shooters - Stephen is back shooting for them though and they will take girls now who don't do open leg.

I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

Penthouse did change format big time, I recently communicated with the editor regarding submitting photo sets to them, he (Toby K) said they did not want to see anything more explicit than open legs.. no spreads.
IMHO the quality of their models have declined considerable..models like Bella are all of a sudden penthouse pets..weired.

Then why is it, even with the total softcore magazine, I still would not put Penthouse on my coffee table when Playboy has always been there? Penthouse's image is beyond repair, in terms of making it a mainstream brand in my opinion

Penthouse is adult and could never be mainstream anyway. Not to mention they never followed the internet and fell way behind. It great to have corporate structure but it's key to hire some good talent with adult backround to compete in this market. A lot of these type of companies suffer from these same issues. Ideas and growth fall into a corporate hole while they sit in board meetings to decide what to do the industry has evolved. These companies continue to hire people with mainstream skills only and don't realize it's a different animal.

Anyway, It will be interesting to see whats next for Penthouse?

Penthouse magazine has gotten softer, but it still features some of the most beautiful models.

There are alot of reasons to go soft in the book, like adverterising, and the Walmart effect (less mom-n-pop retailers), but ultimately everyone here realizes that the mobile and Internet areas are the growth areas, and these channels still feature a broad array of adult content- from soft to XXX.

For those of you who haven't seen the Penthouse in a while, here are some recent models.

BTW - JP-pornshooter, Toby is a girl and she picks the articles pictures, cover shoots etc. Frank still picks the pictorials.
