    Is flash video the way of the future?

    Myspace, Youtube, Google and yahoo, break, etc etc... they are all using Flash based video. Does this mean that flash video is the way of the future? What is going on with this?

      Flash video has much smaller file sizes for the same quality as many other compressions, plus more people have flash already on their computers than many formats/codecs they would have to add to view. It's good for content providers but not so great for those who want to download and save or burn to DVD.

                  I think you will see it continue to increase in tours, etc. but members of paysites will demand downloadable formats.

                      Yes, hands down. unless another technology comes out. Only for videos though, I think we will see it removed from tours and most general sites graphic layout.

                      Since people block it so much now.

                          flash video isn't the way of the future, it is the way of the present.

                          Flash is has the highest install rate of any vidoe product (more than windows media player or quicktime, because it is common on all platforms) and the file sizes are nice.

                          Youtube, google video, and such are all using it.

                          So it is the here and now... the future? Who knows.

                              flash videos make it so much more customizable for the webmasters of the sites and for the viewers... plus not to mention makes it alot easier to cut bandwidth costs because people arn't hotlinking your videos

                              now with programs like ffmpeg out it makes it 100x easier to put your videos into flash...
