Being an Affiliate under a Business Name

Hello all, I'm new here and several other forums (and rather new to the adult industry as well).

I'm an experienced web developer mainly doing internal projects for small companies, but wanted to explore the adult entertainment field.

I was just wondering if anyone is an affiliate to one or more affiliate programs under a business name and not your personal name.

As you may understand, I want to keep my personal name detatched from the adult entertainment industry as possible, especially if my attempts are not successful.

If so, I am wondering the processes of starting an entity if it is strictly an online venture. I have done some research and can only find information about sexually oriented businesses with physical locations and products.

If there is anyone specific to New Hampshire, USA, that has gone through this situation, you would be am invaluable resource, as this is where I am located.

I am... using my business name to recieve checks and etc... I have done this ever since I live in Keene, NH... i'm now in California and operating under the same business name... You can email any affiliate program and ask to have no personal data about you revealed to the public... It's not a problem. It's worth it IMHO, plus there are perks to it.
    heeeeyyyyy now!

BTW, all of my ventures are strictly online with the exception of one (Which is the one I have the business name for.)

          pornblogger:
Thanks for the info. But I still have a couple questions:
What are the perks you are talking about?
How did you handle the taxes from the affiliate programs (meaning, did you have another job at the time and kept them separate from your personal income aka business income?)

          lucky1:
That seems like the best option for me right now.

Right now I am looking to do three things
          1. Keep my personal name detatched from the ae industry (do-able)
          2. Keep my (business) taxes separate from my personal (if possible)
          3. Find out whether or not sexually oriented business in NH (strictly online) have certain fees (besides taxes) that they have to pay.

Its a lot to think about.

This is a bad idea because you will pay taxes as a business and as an individual thus you are paying taxes twice. How do you plan to spend the money from the business? You either have to pay yourself a salary or let the income pass through and pay taxes on it on your 1040.

Just form an LLC, sign up under the business name and let the income pass through to you paying taxes on your 1040. If that worries you too much maybe this is not the right business for you.

If you want to stay private you could simply add a DBA (doing business as). Amsouth bank will give you an account that allows you to do business under a DBA without being incorporated. This way you avoid paying double taxes and the whole paying yourself a salary thing, and keeps your privacy.

So it's not wise getting paid by affiliates by check with my personal name instead of business name? Or can I open a business checking account but also have my name on the account so i can deposit checks both with my personal name or business name...

That is my primary purpose with the checks and accounting information being in the name of the business.
